October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and on Saturday, Clear Creek Golf Club hosted the "Golf for the Girls" tournament.Out on the green of the golf course, it wasn't hard to spot a pink ball, golf club or tee. News 5 checked with golfers to see how they're taking a swing at breast cancer.This time last year, it was pretty scary for Sharon Dixon. "I had a biopsy done and I had to wait over the weekend until I found out the results of it. And it ended up being benign," said Dixon.She took a swing at breast cancer, and on Saturday it was golf balls. She tee-ed off in the "Golf for the Girls" tournament. Karen Branson is playing in honor of her mom, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Branson's mom is now a survivor and she's thinking about her with each swing. "Besides just trying to hit it straight, I'm definitely thinking about the reason why we're here...to support the fight against breast cancer," said Branson.18 teams were sporting the power of pink on the green of the golf course, but while teeing off, they were also raising money for a cure. "Right now, it looks like we're probably going to raise 10 to 12 thousand dollars," said Casey Barnes of Clear Creek Golf Club.All of the money raised goes to the Tri-Cities affiliate of Susan G. Komen to help local women with mammograms, genetic counseling, and awareness. While October is a month of pink, it's also a favorite color of Dixon's simply because, "Pink means saving someone's life."Here are some facts you need to know about breast cancer: For women over 40 years old, it's recommended you get a mammogram ever one to two years. UN committee starts Palestine review (AP)

UNITED NATIONS ? The Security Council committee that reviews U.N. membership applications met for the first time Friday to consider the Palestinians' request for recognition by the world body before sending it on for a technical review.

The meeting came exactly one week after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas took his people's quest for independence to U.N. headquarters, sidestepping peace negotiating efforts that have foundered for nearly two decades. The U.S. and Israel object to the move, insisting on a negotiated peace agreement first.

French Ambassador Gerard Araud told reporters after the closed meeting that the committee will ask experts to determine if the request "meets the criteria of the (U.N.) Charter," which requires that applicants be "peace-loving" and accept its provisions.

Araud said experts will review technical aspects of the request for the first time next week, and indicated there would be further meetings before the committee reports back to the 15-member Security Council.

"We hope that the experts will deal with this part of the exercise in a short period of time," Palestinian envoy Riyad Mansour told reporters.

After the meeting, Indian Ambassador Hardeep Singh Puri underscored his country's support of the Palestinians' bid, saying his country was the first non-Arab state to grant recognition of a Palestinian state when it did so in 1988.

Puri said the committee on the admission of new states "should report to the Security Council that the Palestinian application for membership be recommended to the General Assembly."

The Indian ambassador to the U.N. said the Palestinians' membership application "is not incompatible with, nor does it exclude, direct negotiations between the parties to resolve the final status issues."

U.N. diplomats say the membership committee needs only a simple majority ? or eight of the 15 votes ? to approve the request and send it back to the council.

As the process of incremental steps plods forward at the U.N., the international community is searching for a formula to bring Israel and the Palestinians back to negotiations.

The Quartet of Mideast mediators ? the U.S., European Union, Russia and U.N. ? last week called for a resumption of peace talks without preconditions and a target for a final agreement by the end of 2012.

In order for a state to become a U.N. member, its application must be recommended by the Security Council and then approved by the General Assembly by a two-thirds vote of its 193 members.

For the Palestinians, winning approval in the Security Council poses an insurmountable hurdle. That's because a resolution requires nine "yes" votes and no veto by a permanent member ? and the U.S. has already declared it will veto any resolution if needed.

Nonetheless, the Palestinians are trying to get backing from nine council nations to demonstrate their international support.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki said Thursday that his delegation has secured eight votes in its favor.

Malki said from Ramallah, West Bank, on Friday that Abbas will visit two council nations ? Colombia and Portugal ? next week seeking support for the bid. Colombia has said it's likely to abstain, while Portugal has indicated it is undecided.

It's hard to watch TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras without wondering: What will these kids be like when they get older? That's the question that Leah Remini and Ashley Tisdale attempt to answer in this hilarious new video from Funny or Die. Watch below!

You know it's a good parody when it seems weirdly plausible! In this pretend "Where are They Now?" special, Tisdale plays a grown version of Mackenzie, the 4-year-old diva from the TLC show's third season. At 25, we learn, Mackenzie is still shrieking at her mother (Leah Remini), crying for her pacifier ("Ni-ni!") and competing in beauty pageants... in the 5-to-7-year-old category.

"We feel she really does shine in this particular group," Remini explains, as if it's perfectly logical. (Is it any less logical than spending six figures on pageant costumes for a 4-year-old?)

There's also a great dig at the ridiculous get-ups that pageant moms coerce their kids into (like this year's infamous "Pretty Woman" outfit).

"As Makenzie grew, some of the judges were concerned that her outfits were too 'promiscuous' -- but when she was younger, they were 'cute'?" scoffs Remini. "Please. Semantics."

Even though Remini gets the best lines, it's Tisdale that gets the biggest laughs out of this video. The former High School Musical villain has proven her excellent timing as the voice of Candace on the cartoon Phineas & Ferb, and here she shows that she can do sketch comedy with the best of them. Somebody ought to give this girl her own sitcom -- or she may be forced to scream "Ni-ni" again!
