Gas prices holding steady in RI

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Gas prices are holding steady in Rhode Island for the third straight week.

The latest survey by AAA Southern New England, released Monday, finds that the average cost of a gallon of regular, self-serve in the state is $3.59.

Local prices are up 4 cents in the last month. The current average is 4 cents less than the national per-gallon average of $3.63.

Rhode Islanders were paying an average of $3.60 a gallon a year ago at this time.
